rifle/shotgun combos

Do you guys ever come across these guns used?
I was in a shop today and got exited when I saw a savage 22lr over 20ga on the rack, but it was in for service and not for sale.
I was told that I could be put on a list, but that its a long one.
How common are the o/u combos? I'd love to own one, but don't want to pay big bucks for a new one.

I've seen some recently, mostly .22/.410 or .22/20 ga., but I also saw a .30-06 over .30-06. I know that you can have either gunsmiths or company's custom make you one in any caliber/gauge combo you want, but you'll pay for it. A buddy of mine has a .222 over 20ga made by savage, but it's from the 1890's I think, before they closed down for a while, so I'm REALLY doubting they still put that one out. I've only ever seen one other that was a .30-06 over 12 ga, a pawn shop wanted $3000 for it, so I couldn't get a hold of it, but it didn't sit in there very long!!!!!

European American Armory or EAA has some of these guns and the prices aren't anywhere near 3000. Not fancy but they have some o/u in the same gauge for about 450 also.

I have two Savage model 24s. One is a .222 over 20 ga. The other is a 30/30 over 20 ga. I have shot several coyotes with the .222 and loads of grouse with the 20 ga.

I always thought a .308 or 7mm/08 over 20ga would be pretty handy.

I have a savage in 22lr over a 410,bought it new I think in 1950 or when every they came out for I think 39.00,or somewhere around there. The last time I saw any they were over 400.00.
Years ago I used mine to take anything from squrrels to deer.
I still have it and it is priceless.
Last year in savage catalog they had one with a scope on it I have been trying to find out who made the scope mount so I could put scope on mine but haven't found any,Was going to e-mail savage but they don't take e-mails.
Looks like if they did it would help their bussiness???

Baikal makes rifle/shotgun combos, and if you look on gunbroker.com you can find quite a few of them. Cost less than the savage and come in tons of calibers.(Same ones imported by EAA)

I've got a buddy in VA that is trying to get every possible combo of the Savage O/U's. He's bought a lot of new ones and several used ones. He just found a used 223/12ga in nice shape for $365.

Springfield Armory made a survival combo.Model M-6 Scout. If I remember right it was designed for the US Air Force. It's a 22 Hornet over a 410. Nothing pretty about it.All Parkerized or matte steel and has a place to hold cartridges and shotgun shells on top of the butt stock .Has a hinged cover over the ammo supply. There is a optional pin that can be pulled out and breaks it down into two pieces.Another company is making them now.Don't remember who it is though. Neat little combo gun...........Ruger Redhawk
