Light bullets in 7 MM
 

Hey guy's I was just checking out the 7 mm losing favor thread.Fist off I love my 7MM Rem.Mag.I like fast cars also.:DAnyhoo does anybody load up 100, 110 , or similar light weight projectiles for the 7 MM Rem.Mag.?I sometimes shoot the "Little Stuff".I have a Stainless Steel target stand .Sometimes at 200 yards if you pass through the paper and hit the stand you can see the smoke off of the metal.I have not check the Velocity of these rounds yet but they are rocking.Wonder how a 115 grain hollow point would do on a whitetail?

I’ve never shot anything lighter then 139 grain. bullets and those were smoking coming out of the barrel. Maybe some day when I have nothing better to do, I’ll check into lighter bullets but for now I’m going to try the Barns and see what happens. I also still love my 7mm Rem. Mag. Nothing wrong with this cartridge.;)

I've got nothing but good things to say about mine. I only shoot 150 gr balistic tips or nosler on whitetail and 175gr trophy bonded on larger game.

Never tried anything smaller. Might give it a go this weekend at the range. Anything to reduce the shoulder ache on Monday!!!

Also, are the muzzle breaks worth the money?

Ive never tried anything that light out of my 7mm. I shoot 139 gr Hornadys and they really do the job well. Its seems like that small a bullet would be way too fast out of a magnum. Heck it would proabably burn up before it hit the deer or decenagrate once it made contact.

I have shot deer with the 120 grain Sierra pro-hunter. I only load them to about 2900 fps. The are a little fragil for deer at higher velocitys.

Oh I don't know someone I know shoots a .284 ULA w/120 grain X bullets and says its all he needs for Elk. I would like to try out the Groove 127 grain bullet in my STW as soon as they become available.

I use regular 150gr ballistic tips for my 7 money monkey, works great! Since I don't load my own ammo, what is the lowest "grainage" you can get from a local gun store?

140 is the lowest I have shot. For the type of terrain I hunt and the fact that I don't want to be re-sighting in for elk after deer, I have gone with 160 grain Noslers. They group great and work well on both deer and elk.

Yeah, I will probably stick to the 150 grain then, I only hunt deer so far, and if I decide to shoot some other game I can borrow my dad's 30.06 in 165 grain rounds.

Old elk hunter. Yea the X bullet would stand up to higher velocity than the Siearra pro-hunter. By its performance last year I felt I was driving it about as fast as it should bve driven. It went through the shoulder of a big Mule deer and exited the far side but exited in several pieces. This at about 200 yards.
