Does it matter how it looks?
I've heard alot of people say that the Savage is a good rifle but very ugly. Personally, I don't see what makes them ugly. Could someone explain why they are considered ugly guns and whether or not looks matter to you.

RE: Does it matter how it looks?
If I'm hunting with a gun, I don't care what it looks like as long as it's safe and accurate.
Savage looks ok to me. |
RE: Does it matter how it looks?
It used to be that the more expensive guns had better wood ...walnut... and if you looked them over could find one with a nice grain and cut checkering.
Savage is usually a "hard wood" stock ( birch) and if it's ckeckered it's pressed. As far as looks ... I've had many friends that bought pretty guns, and then were affraid to take them into the woods ( didn't want to scratch the stock) so they used a win 94 .30-30. I say get a savage and use it. Who says they're ugly. The old 99 and 99Cs are classic man. My brother has one, my other brother has one, their sons have them... it's a family thing. I'm the odd ball with all my Remingtons.

If you want a gun just to stare at buy a pretty gun. If you want one to hunt with does it matter if it's a show piece? Buy the Savage and use it for what it was made for.I don't think the Savage is ugly. I'll agree it's not a Browning but doesn't need to be to get your deer.....Ruger Redhawk
