This isn't a side by side but you might want to check these out. They are Imported by EAA and go for $380. Might be worth looking into. Just my $.02

I too have a hankering for a 28 ga. I hear nothing but good things on them. I'm really leaning toward a Browning citori. A bit more than the $500 you had in mind but the more inexpensive O/Us don't fit me too well.
I have two Baikals in 12 ga SxS and they fit good. and are well under $500. I have to look and see if they make it in a 28. If so, that would be my choice for the price you're looking at.

The IZH-27 I posted is a Baikal. EAA imports them. They also have a side by side double that runs between $450-$500.

thanks
bronko22000- if you get one you'll love it!! i got mine when i turned 11 and i shot about 1 box per week and $15 a box for high brass #6's where makeing my pants lighter and lighter [:'(] went to a 12 guage then a 16 then a 20 i just can't compare any to the 28......cost of ammo is way down now that more shotguns in this caliber are being made. i started shooting the 28 again about 1 month ago and i ran outa ammo on wensday. i got the high brass for $8 and i could have got standards for lesss but they don't pack the punch for the high flying crows

i can go over 5 but i would like to keep it close to 500. i was looking at a remington 1100 in 28 i got a 11-87 in 20 and like the feel of the gun.

also my dad shoots an EAA i don't really like it though i mean it is a good gun it just dosn't ballance out for me
