Nikon Monarch 3x9 40. One piece tube, high quality optics, coating. Can't get better optics for the $. Life time warranty no matter what happens. If you fall and break it, send it in and they'll send you another.

I'm picking another one up mounted on a new Tikka T3 tomorrow. I think it's as good a combination you can get for just over $800

RE: Which Scope?

I put a Swarovski 6X 36 on a custom 6.5 / 284. Optically the scope was great. BUT on my first hunt with the rifle in a constant drizzle, the scope fogged. Swarovski took it back and repaired it in short order, but it left a bad impression. For the money I would expect a high end scope like Swarovski to be trouble free. I now immerse any new scope I purchase in a bucket of water before it goes on my rifles. Anyone else out there have a new scope fail?

I have several rifles, mostly big game varieties from .243 to .338. With the one exception of the Swarovski, they all have Leupold fixed 6x, either 36mm or 42 mm. One exception is my.338 which wears a Leupold 4x 33. They are light, simple, and dependable (with one major exception) and mount low which best fits my shooting form. For big game I find both the 4x and the 6x have adequate magnification for hits as far as I am able to shoot and be certain of vital hits. Any other fixed power scope fans out there?

Nikon Monarch 3x9-40. High quality, clear optics and coatings, strong 1 piece tube, adjustable and lifetime unconditional guarantee. With a good pair of rings mounted, sight it in and it stays put, even with some the heavy magnum calibers.

I like it! ;)

I'll 2nd that high end Bushnell. Been using a 4 x 12 x 40. for 14years. No problems. One thing I would like to see in a scope is some kind of artificial horizon or level. Shooting long range in the field, it would be nice to know if your gun is straight up and down.
