Hottest Factory .30-06 loads....Hornady L/Mags??
I have been browsing through the ballistics data in the shooting mags trying to find the best factory ammo for my Rem 700 ADL in .30-06. It seems like the Hornady Light Magnums in 165 and 180 grain are way more powerful and flat shooting than any others even in the premium ammo category. Does anyone have any experience with these, are there any drawbacks apart from the cost, or are these the golden bullet for my gun?

In the latest edition of rifle mag, they were testing a new CZ 30-06 and the hornady light magnums by far shot the best. If i remember right, 1/2 inch groups w/a 3-9 scope, cant remember if they didnt anything to it though. Either way, the hornaday should be a great choice.

RE: Hottest Factory .30-06 loads....Hornady L/Mags??
Well let's see:
Federal Premium High Energy 165 gr. Trophy Bonded Bear Claw: 3140 fps muzzle Hornady Light Magnum 165 gr. BTSP: 3015 fps muzzle Hornady Light Magnum 150 gr. SP: 3100 fps muzzle I would buy both and see which one shoots better out of your rifle. I like the bullet selection of Federal, but they are comparable energy and velocity-wise. |

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll have to check out those HE Federal rounds as well.
Another question what is the best online/mail order place to buy ammo like this at the best prices? The Hornady Light Magnums in stores my local stores in MA seem to be $20-$25 plus tax for a box of 20. |
