Hello,
In a few years my father is going to give me his 1968 Winchester 94 32 caliber special and I was wondering how good is it and is it rare or just some more info on it?:D

Not rare. Probably notworth enough to buy you 1/2 a new rifle. The .32 special is just as good as a 30-30, but not better as some seem to think.

Ballistically, the .32 Win Special is almost identical to a 30/30. It was touted (especially back in the 60's) as being a great all purpose deer / black bear gun for the northeast U.S. big forests. It is very handy, quite light and a pleasure to shoot. I have one that was given to me by my father about 20 years ago. Check out Chuck Hawks website. He speaks highly of them.

The .32 special was born in 1895 as a smokeless powder round that once fired could be loaded with blackpowder. The 30-30 came out a little earlier, but it's narrower bore and quicker twist fouled so badly that it's accuracy became eliminated in the first few rounds (when loaded with blackpowder that is). The larger bore of the .32 and the slower twist of 1 in 16 worked way better as a blackpowder round for repated firings. The .32 was more appealing to the man that had a lot of blackpowder. However, once the .32 bore is pitted, rusted or worn it's accuracy is horrible. Whereas the 30-30 can still deliver decent accuracy after it becomes rusted, pitted or worn.
There is virtually NO difference in power between the 2.

It is not a rare gun, but if in good shape perfectly capable of killing deer for generations. The 30-30 and the 32 special, while not long distance rounds, and not high velocity rounds, fill the role as deer killers just fine when the hunter makes a good shot at deer under 200 yards. Can the 30-30 and the .32 special kill deer beyond 175-200 yards? Sure...just not as easily oas some other rounds without as much drop.
If your 94 is in good shape, it should be a fine deer gun for years to come as long as you take care of it.
P.S. As said above, since it was your father's gun, it is "something special"
