Savage 110 trigger job
 

At the range the other day, a friend of mine and I were doing some shooting. I was shooting my Browning A-bolt II Stainless Stalker in 30-06, my friend was shooting his Savage 110 in 30-06. I was shooting real nice groups but noticed that my friend was all over the paper at 100 yds. We decided to try each others hardware out to see if it was the gun or him. The first thing I noticed was the trigger pull on this thing was way too heavy. I'm thinking like 9lbs or something. I was able to shoot better then he did but that trigger has got to go! Does anyone know if the triggers are adjustable on these Savage 110's made in the late 80's? I was told by another friend that they are not. I would like a second opinion about this if anyone has some information. Thanks.

yes and no.....they are adjustable but only by honing and bending.....

Write Savage and ask if the accutrigger will fit in your 110

Savage told me that the accu trigger could not be installed on earlier models. Only ones available with it.

Take it to a gun smith. Mine charges 35.00 to adjust a trigger...

I have adjusted the triggers on the old style Savages,you dont need to bend or hone. But its best if you would just get a Timney trigger for it and that will be good to go.

I have a Savage 10FP LE2B with the accutrigger in it and I really like that thing.

They make a nice replacement trigger for the savage called the sharp shooter. Go to www.midwayusa.com or www.midsouthshooters.com
They should have them. I'm not for sure if a gunsmith has to do this or not. I use Timneys on my M70's and love them.

I've checked out the accutrigger it does break nice and clean, BUT too much takeup. I'll stick with Timney.

My gunsmith is installing a sharp shooter trigger on my Savage 110 25-06, this will take away the only performance weakness on the gun, the trigger is adjustable from 3/4-2 pounds I believe (12- 32 oz.'s). We figured it wouldn't cost much more than he charges to do a trigger job and I can adjust it to where I want it without having to worry (and then put the original "lawyerized" trigger back in should I ever decide to sell it).

Thanks for the replies! Now I have somthing to go on. It's hard to believe he's had that gun for over 15 years and never did anything about it. I would have given up and traded the gun for something else by now. If he can get a trigger replacement, I'm sure he'll keep it.
