Ruger 45colt, 5.5" or 7.5"
this question has been bothering me for some time now. also bisley grips or standard. now heres the problem from the ruger website info. they make a bisely vaquero only 5.5" and a bisely blackhawk in only 7.5". if i got standard grips then its no problem (in this case all i have to do is decide barrel length).
also 3 more qs 1) how is bisely pronouced, i dont want to got ask for one and sound like a goober. i always thought it was beesly but i dont know2) other than fixed sights what it the difference between the vaquero and the blackhawk? i origionaly thought nothing but the vaqueros are 100 bucks more. i thought they would be cheaper because of fixed sights.3) only hunting revolver how big a deal do you think fixed sights would make. after i find my primary load i can adjust the front sight to the right height and then just think about the horizatal movement and adhust for it. |
RE: Ruger 45colt, 5.5" or 7.5"
i think the bisley varquero is case hardend but i aint sure, i;d get the varquero cause i like short pistols. if i was usin it for hunting with longer shots in mind i;d get the blackhawk, but i;ve been known to shoot and hit targets. critters etc with guns that weren;t meant for that subject.
hell buy em both |
RE: Ruger 45colt, 5.5" or 7.5"
I can give you my opinion on some of your subjects. 1) its pronounced (bizley) 2) for hunting get the longer barrel it will give you a longer sight radius and more accurate shooting and a little better speed too. YOu will loose portability with the longer barrel but that never bothered me. So adjustable sights are a must at least for me it is. These are just my prefrences so you have to decide what you like. If more info needed don;t be afraid to ask.

propmahn,Here is what i would do. i would go to a gunshop and handle each gun you think you want.pick it up and point it and see which one feels the best. I have a ruger blackhawk in 357 magnum with the 4 5/8 barrel that points perfect everytime.I bring it up and the sights are level and on target.in other words I choose my barrel lenght and grip stye by how well the gun fits me.

RE: Ruger 45colt, 5.5" or 7.5"
I have or had long and short barrels Ruger S/A's.I prefer the longer barrels for hunting. My personal preference is adjustable sights. As far as the grip frame,I would recommend you hold both and see which one fits your hands and with the most comfort.I put a pair of Pachmyers on mine and has improved the grip and comfort. Ruger Redhawk
