RE: 358 win
Hi Carpmaster,
An outdoor sporting goods store near the Juaniata River not far from where we live has both a .358 Winchester and a .284 Winchester, both Model 88's hanging on their walls. Neither are for sale, though both would probably be over $1,000. if you could talk them out of them.
I've had a Savage 99, .358 Winchester and a Winchester 88, .308 Winchester, with the checkered, (not impressed), stock. Both were great rifles!

RE: 358 win
I have dealt with a lot of M88 and M100 Wins in various calibers. IMO, the M88's are too large, heavy, and unhandy as lever-action rifles, when compared to the Browning BLRs. In addition, I have found the BLRs to be generally more accurate, despite their two-piece stocks and shorter barrels....

Carpmaster, you may want to try gunsamerica.com, auctionarms.com, or gunbroker.com if your looking to purchase one. Unlike the .308s, the .284 and .358 in the model 88 are rarer and cost quite a bit more.
I can go to the local gun shop and buy two 308s right now. I've seen 284s and 358s at gun shows.
