Ruger Super Blackhawk

I am soon to buy a Ruger Super Blackhawk in 44 mag. I am hearing about old style and new version. Would someone tell me the difference. The people selling them just tell me that which ever one they have is the best. I had one years ago (evidently old style) but had to sell it.

This is my guess as to what you are refering to.....

The old style or 3 screw as it was called the hammer rested on the firing pin so it was recommended that when you carried the weapon you rested on an empty chamber ( like a colt SAA) The new model has a transfer bar safety and you can safely load and carry the gun with all six chambers loaded. I had a "new model" super blackhawk they are a nice gun.

Along with the transfer bar, the "hunter models" also have the notches to accept Ruger scope rings.
