22. clips

I just bought a brand new ruger 10/22 in stainless steel for my sons 13 birthday. We went to the local gun range and put about 460 rounds through it. Where are the best places to buy high capcity mags ?I ahve searched gunsamerica and a few other sites and have only found thoose hugge 50 round drums which require a bunch of liceneses. Where can i find theese ?

Have you been off planet for the last ten years? Comrade Klinton's "assualt weapons ban" says anything over a ten round magazine turns your son's 10/22 into killing machine. You are not likely to find any, unless that POS law sunsets. Contact your Senators and Congressman and let them know you want it to sunset THIS YEAR!

You don't need any licenses to own these magazines. In some places its simply outright illegal to own one, Kookifornia comes to mind. In the free world ( the states in between the coastal states) they are perfectly legal to own. The catch is that they are illegal to manufacture and have been since 1994. If you can find a 50 round magazine for a 10/22, and good luck finding one, you'll pay 2-3x as much as your rifle is worth for the magazine.

I would only add, that from my experience, most if not all of those magazines have feeding problems.
At one time I had 4 30rd's from Eagle, 4 50rd's from Ramline and several 20rnd's from Butler creek. I had my 10/22 tricked out with a folding stock, ventilated hand guard, bbl shroud, H&K type sights and lots of action work done to it;). Dern thing would never feed an entire clip without some sort of jamb, but would blaze through tha stock magazines. I eventually got so frustrated with the thing that I sold it and built a sweet target/plinker on a 10/22 reciever instead. Got more $$ for the mags than I did for the gun. Now those mags are somebody elses headache![:'(]:D

Like Mr Laubner said, don't waste your money on these high-cap clips!! They're made of cheap plastic, don't feed well and cost way too much. The last ones that I saw at a gunshow were Butler Creek 20 rounders and were 70 bucks each.[:'(]

You can buy some that hold the same amount as the one that came with it. Then while he is shooting with one clip you can be loading the other, then switch.
