Is the Tasco 3-12X50 good for the MONEY
I have $100 to spend on a scope. It needs to be a 50mm bell. I would like fully multi coated but I think that I am asking for to much. Please help. It will have to last for a couple of years. Any comments would be appreciated.

You get what you pay for when youre buying new, given its not on sale. Id reccomend looking for a good used scope. That way you can get a higher quality scope on your limited budget.

I have not tried that one. I have however never had a problem with Tasco world class or better scopes. The Bushnell Trophy can be had for about the price you are looking at and would be my choice in that price range. The Simmons Aetec costs about 140 and would last you a lifetime.

Don't get the Tasco do some more searching first. Check used scopes on ebay they have some good deals sometimes. But make sure the seller has high rating in his feedback.

All burris scopes are fully multicoated. Look at the Burris Fullfield II. You will have to save another $165.00 for a scope with a 50mm objective. With a 40mm objective you will have to save about $90.00 more dollars. Good luck.

I would buy a simmons over a tasco anyday. the only scopes i have ever had to return are tascos. leupold prefered.
Here is a refurb aetec for $99.natchez IMO the simmons is a better scope for that dollar range. |

I would try to save a little more money and buy a Leupold rifleman series 3x9x40. This would be my first choice on a budget. Second try Burris or Weaver.
here is the link for the Rifleman scope: http://www.midwayusa.com/rewriteaproduct/481059 here is Midways home web site: www.midwayusa.com also check out Midsouth Shooters Supply. They are runnig a special on Burris a 3x9x40 and a free spotting scope for under $200.00 www.midsouthshooters.com One more thing I would reconsider a 50mm objective lens. I made that mistake on my first hunting rifle. Now I go no bigger than 40mm-44mm on a big game rifle. 50mm-60mm on varmit guns is ok tough. Just my opinion and 2 cents. Aim Straight, NBH |
