Bushmasters position on the AWB!
I found this article from Bushmaster and thought it was revalent to the CNN Poll and that those of you that own Bushmasters, me included, might want to e-mail or call Bushmaster to tell them how you feel about their position.
WINDHAM, Maine (AP) - Bushmaster Firearms says its sales have increased by at least 900 percent in the nine years since a federal ban on assault weapons took effect, so it's not concerned about a proposed extension of the ban. The Windham-based gun maker has seen its revenue skyrocket since the 1994 law's passage, erasing fears that the ban would put manufacturers out of business. Bushmaster opposed the original ban, but the company is less worried about an extension, Faraday said. "From our point of view, extending the ban is probably OK," So if the AWB is lifted they might be stuck with a bunch of Post-ban weapons that nobody will want and then probably have to sell them off cheap. Or maybe have to retro-fit the original parts back onto the guns to make them desirable. So again, it's all about the almighty dollar, not about supporting the customers that support them. WTF, this stinks![:@][:'(] Without the support of the manufacturers the bill could be doomed to fail.[&o] |
RE: Bushmasters position on the AWB!
Yup, because its
really I wouldn't put Bushmaster in the 'anti' category jsut yet. On the other hand, Armalite has had an ad campaign several months ago giving a free flash hider out to anyone who bought their rifles- which the company will fit to the rifles when the ban expires.:) |
RE: Bushmasters position on the AWB!
This AWB law is relatively toothless, and has not affected me one way or the other, except that it represents a further encroachment by Big Brother upon our god-given rights. But once the camel gets his nose under the tent.......
![]() Let's continue to do all we can to see that this fool legislation is not renewed. If some gunmakers think that an extension is OK because it will help their bottom line, shame on them!! |

RE: Bushmasters position on the AWB!
I would be careful listening to any news about a companies stance on certain issues. I went to bushmaster.com and this is what i found:
Bushmaster Firearms has always been a proud and strong supporter of the Second Amendment and an individuals right to access, own and use firearms. Bushmaster has fought the anti-gun movement continually in their constant efforts to eliminate firearms from our society. We have committed a great deal of our resources to support this effort and will continue to do so. Unfortunately, the anti-gun movement finds a great deal of favor in much of the press with their bias and slanted reporting. Bushmaster has always tried to be open and honest with the press in an effort to help them see the other side and to educate them on the real issues. Often the real story is left out or slanted in an attempt to feed the anti-gun agenda. In a May 14th article in a local newspaper, regarding the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and its sunset provision, the reporter took totally out of context what Mr. Faraday said and slanted the article in a way that made it appear that Bushmaster was in support of extending the Ban. One of the quotes that was taken out of context and was incomplete was "From our point of view, extending the ban is probably OK, in terms of affecting our sales, but we have always supported legislation protecting gun rights, including the Assault Weapons Ban sunset provision." The reporter asked how Bushmaster dealt with the ban in the first place and how we were able to continue our business. The quote that we would consider supporting the bill that would strengthen the current Assault Weapons Ban law was totally mischaracterized. The discussion was about how far apart the pro-gun groups and the anti-gun groups are in trying to understand each other, and that if the anti-gun groups would propose ideas or suggestions that made sense, then we would consider them, but instead their entire effort is to shutdown the industry. The firearms industry's ongoing battle with the well-financed anti-gun groups creates an atmosphere of absolute non-understanding and non-compromise on both sides. From the point of view of the firearms industry, it has become an issue of survival. As long as the press continues to distort and slant the issues, and the anti-gun groups are determined to destroy the industry, then there never will be any meaningful discussion of the issues. Geuss bushmaster just got screwed by a liberal media again! |
RE: Bushmasters position on the AWB!
I am not a AR sort of guy, but am interested. When they came out of with the AWB, I thought all AR's were out, but never happened. What makes the Post Ban AR compliant with the AWB?

RE: Bushmasters position on the AWB!
From what i understand the AWB made the manufacturers take off the bayonet lug and folding stocks, thats about it really. As you can see its kind of a pointless ban that is only intended to further the movement to ban guns.
