Winchester 9410

I am thinking about getting a winchester 9410 lever action .410. Any on out there have one of these? What do you think about the gun? Thanks for all of the help.

If you're set on getting a lever action .410, I'd advise heading away from the Winchester 9410...Get a Marlin. The Win. 94 action pretty well only functions well with bottleneck rifle cartridges, it's pistol cartridge and shotshell counterparts have always left a lot to be desired in the feeding department...I personally don't feel that you should have so many gaping wounds in your receiver either, there's only one solid side!!! Top=ejection port, bottom=actuator, left side=loading gate, the right side is the only solid side.

Another thing to consider with these guns in general, remember they're only 2.5" chambers, so you're really limiting yourself in what you can hunt with them. I've hunted a huge gammut of game with 3" .410 shells to great success, but the 2.5" counterpart is practically worthless...the 9410 and the Marlin .410 levergun are pretty much only good for dove and bunnies, and general fun...I love my Marlin, and I'd absolutely love to feel confident enough to hunt upland game with it, but it's just not stout enough for "Serious" upland hunting IMHO...you could probably get away with it as long as you do your part, but it's kind of like hunting deer with a .223 or .357mag pistol, it'll do fine, you've got to understand it's limitations...around here birds are getting scarce enough that finding one is challenging enough, you don't need a "limited use" shotgun to boot!!!

I agree with Nomercy's advice. The Marlin is a much better gun than the Winchester 9410.
