scoperings

Hi,

I have a Weatherby Vanguard VGX and i am thinking of putting a Simmons AETEC on it. Can you help me on picking out scoperings?

Kind regards,
Ice

Leuppold rings and bases are just as good as anybody elses rings and bases.

I never use Weaver rings and bases. There is no adjustment with them at all.

For years all I would buy was Redfield bases and rings.I've never had a complaint with the Redfield stuff. A couple years ago I tried Millet rings. They appear to be quality. Leupold's I've never used but there's probably not a nickels worth of difference between the Loopy and Redfield stuff. My best advise is buy good quality bases and rings. The scope can only be as good as the mounting will allow.

Last year I put some Millet Scope rings on my H&R .223. They seem to have held up very well so far and in my opinion are worth the money I spent on them.

I have Leupold on 80% of my rifles, the other 20% has redfield, weaver, and no problems with any of them.

All I use are Leupold now, b/c they simply haven't caused me a problem...unlike some other mainly weaver!

I use millet rings only. I have them on both of my vanguards and they have done a fine job. I have even used the Millet rings on my .416 Rigby and that scope has never moved even under that punishing recoil.

Go with either the Redfield or the Leupold rings. I dont think you can find anything better for the price. Just stay away from the weaver type rings.( They are junk!!)

But then again what do I know? I am just a damn old hillbilly..:):D

I use only Leupold mounts unless the gun in question is a Ruger and I use their excellent mounts that come standard w/ the gun. I've used Leupold QR, Standard, and Dual Dovetail mounts, all are excellent mounts. You won't go wrong with any of them.
