How many of you still..............

hold a grudge against Smith & Wesson?

I have to admit, I've eased up on my sentiments about them since they were sold back to Americans, and they did an about face on their stance with the Government.

I just never cared that much for them to begin with. I've owned several, both revolvers and semi-autos, and just don't care for them.

But how many of you feel they sold us out back then?

I still have a negative view of them, but they aren't alone, I also hold Ruger in a somewhat tainted light as well.

I suppose if Rosie O'Donut and Hitlery Clinton became rabid NRA members tomorow, it would take me a very long time to have positive feelings towards them as well.

Its a business...they got forced into a position and made a decision lots a folks disliked them for their decisions but those folks didn't have to pay S&W's piper. I hold no grudge
I've only owned one S&W ...a model 657 stainless in 41 mag with a 6" barrel.....no complaints whatsoever.Solid, accurate, reliable, and tight.

I'd think that the ones who sold us out, then sold the company! So todays owners are not the ones responsible.
Give me a Ruger or Colt, over an S&W anyday, though!

Yeah, it is a business. In business, when you screw your customer, he can screw the business back. I held a HUGE grudge against S&W, and wouldn't consider spending a PENNEY that would go to them, not just on firearms, but on anything that had a licensed S&W logo on. Business decisions cut both ways.
I am still not terribly happy with S&W for not publicly retracting their policy. The obvious PR articles in the shooting press about how the boycot was "hurting good, long time employees that had nothing to do with company policy" were pure BS, and made me even more determined not to buy.
In practice, S&W seems to have foresworn the Devil's bargain that was offered. I would buy a Smith if they made anything I was interested in.

I've lightened up recently but not enough to bring me back to S&W. I know they are owned again by Americans. I'm grateful for that.Unless I've missed it somewhere I haven't seen or heard anything from S&W trying top get out of the rediculious agreement.Until then I'll never consider another Smith. They do make fine revolvers. I never cared for the older semi auto's.The new ones I have no clue on.Horace Smith & Daniel B. Wesson must be turning over in their graves seeing what the English firm did.I'll never forgive the British owners for what they did. For the new owners it's possible but only after they prove themselves.I don't like going against gun companies and we need to stick together. S&W went against us and will leave a thorn in my side for a long time to come.

Well I didnt even know they had changed hands....but they ceased to exist to me the day they sold out to the gov. Was one of the saddest days in the history of firearms business.

S&W was back on my buy list the day it was announced that they was under new owners.

I think the old owners made a big mistake back then. However the current owners should not have to pay for that mistake. I might feel different if I never made a mistake, but man I have made my share. At this time I am not overly fond of anything the are making but would not hesitate to buy a product from them again now.

Na, no use to hold any grudge. Waste of my time. But what did happen during the whole episode was unexpected. I was a S&W fan (revolvers) my whole life, and in the process of all this, I tried out Rugers, and found out they seemed more accurate and I liked them better.
