Will weaver-style bases fit on Kimber 8400?

I just ordered a Kimber 8400 in .308 with the intention of installing Weaver bases and Weaver-style QR rings. However, I hear that Kimbers come with their own proprietary bases, which only work with Leupold rings. Does anyone know if I can rig up this rifle to use weaver style rings?

As far as I'm aware, you need their bases... which are made by Leupold for them. They hit ya hard for them too... like around $50.00- $60.00. That's from the gun shop I utilize, not my own experience.

Duh, slight correction: It's a Montana, not an 8400, but the question probably still applies.
