Scope mounting question
Maybe I'm just tired but I am having a hard time thinking this through and just wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem.
I just mounted a Simmons ProDiamond 2X on my Mossberg 835 shotgun. When I sighted it in it was still 1 to 2 inches high with the adjustment full down. I am looking to shim the rings a bit---but which ones should I shim? It seems as though I should shim the front up a bit to bring the crosshairs up to the impact point. But I want to make sure that I don't have the scope adjustments against the stops. Anybody have any good advice? |

RE: Scope mounting question
drache has it right:
take a beer or coke can cut a strip the with of your rings and fold it three times ,put under the back of the scope and reajust. that should do it. I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry. |
RE: Scope mounting question
unless you have one piece bases its not as simple as shimming one side, here is some help

RE: Scope mounting question
If you shim a scope, you are taking the scope out of level. This means that if you sight it in at 50 yards, the scope is going to be off at 100 and 25.
