358 Winchester

358's post about his 358 BLR got me thinking. I've wanted one of these guns for a long time. I never take shots beyond 200 yds, and I'm a fan of larger bore rifles. This seems like the perfect caliber for all of my hunting needs. however, not many people own one, and i've really never gotten any opinions about it.

who has hunted with a 358 win?
how well did it perform on deer?
what ammo did you use?

thanks,

I am in the same boat you are. I want a .358 winchester but in a winchester model 88. From what i have seen and read it is a very nice caliber for deer and larger game out to 200-250 yards. Craig Boddington used one a year or two ago on his Shiras Mosse hunt featured in Petersen's Hunting. It would perform very well on deer with a 250 grain bullet.

Now that’s what I like to hear about the 35 caliber. I just ordered a new barrel in 350 Rem. Mag for my T/C Encore and was looking for comments on the 35 caliber. Not much is ever mentioned about this caliber but now I’m really looking forward to trying my new barrel..;)
