Need opinions on what reticle to get...
I'm putting a new Leupold VX-III 3.5x10x50mm on my Browning A-Bolt and can't decide whether to get the standard duplex or the heavy duplex reticle. I have the heavy duplex on my scoped 870 that I turkey hunt with but have never had a heavy duplex on anything else. Since whitetails move the most at dusk and dawn, I'm wondering if the heavier reticle would be any advantage, or should I just stick with the standard duplex? Give me your thoughts.

RE: Need opinions on what reticle to get...
I have heavy on my abolt. I love it for hunting dawn and dusk, but hate it at the range doing precision work at 200 or 300 yards. But ultimately, its a hunting rifle so heavy works for me. I have fine on several rifles, but after having heavy on my abolt and hunting with it this year, I think heavy will be my choice for all serious hunting rifles. Your will like it. Give it a try even if your a number 8 fan.

I have both reticles. I prefer the regular duplex. I bought the heavy, thinking it might help me in low light? After 7-years of hunting with it, I do not think it helps me in low light.

For low light you can't beat a lit reticle.

Go with the standard Duplex, That's all I ever used and they have worked out fine for me.
