Is the .17HRM really that great?
I am in the market for a little 22LR/22mag/17HRM type of gun. I have never shot a 17, but i have heard buddies talk about them. I am getting mixed impresions. what are the facts? Is it true that these little bullets will drift like crazy in a slight wind? People are all hyped about them, but i have my doubts, might I be better off with a .22 mag?
thanks guys

I would take the 17. They are realy accurate from what ive seen. They arent suppose to drift much. I think on the predator/small game forumn there was a topic on it where someone explained it well.

Get the 17 HMR and you won't be sorry. It will probably become one of your favorite guns. They are that much fun to shoot. That little round packs a lot of punch within it's capabilities. I sure enjoy mine!

The 17HMR is like any other cartridge, it's fine if used within it's limitations. For small varmints it's good round.I would take a 17 over a 22 Long Rifle anytime.Hard choice between the 22Mag and the new 17.Both have their advantages.

I love mine, but it has its limitations. It's better than a 22mag in the same situation.
I shot mine at 100yds in a pretty stiff wind, and didn't notice any drift. Maybe at longer ranges....
