Your choice of shotguns?
I'm looking into shooting sporting clays and would like to hear what you guys think is the better shotgun for this sport?
Maybe the best shotgun you can get for under $2000 and why? |
RE: Your choice of shotguns?
I've been shooting sporting competatively for a couple of years now, and for my money, for under $2000 get either a used Beretta 682, or a new 686E Sporting (which I own), with 30" barrels. Look at the Brownings too, they're fine guns too. You can do very well with an auto, too a Beretta 391 or Teknys, or one of the Browing/Winchester auto twins (Gold/SX2), but for my money I like an O/U for reduced cleaning time. Clean out the barrels wipe it down, grease the hinges and you're good to go, an auto just requires more cleaning, and I guess I'm a little lazy.

RE: Your choice of shotguns?
I use a Beretta 686-Onyx. The only thing I did not like about this shotgun was the automatic safety.[:o] I took it to my local gunsmith and he fixed that problem.;)

RE: Your choice of shotguns?
I would go with the Browning Gold "Golden Clays" for the semi auto class. A Browning Cyneregy for the O/U class. I like the way the Browning Gold's balance and handle. They are very dependable and bulit with quality. The Cnyeregy repersents the latest technolagy in over unders today. While I'm 12 gauge semi-auto chauvinist. I find the Cnyeregy very impressive indeed.

i love the browning citori lightning. great looking gun and a joy to shoot.

RE: Your choice of shotguns?
If I were forced to buy a O/U for that application it would have to be either a Browning citori or a Beretta...for hunting there are other choices.
|
RE: Your choice of shotguns?
Browning Citori and SKB are my choices.

RE: Your choice of shotguns?
Buy what fits and feels good to you. Browning, Rinzini,Beretta,H&K,Franchi,Weatherby or what ever. Go to a place with a large selection and play touchy feely and then decide. Some Sprtg Clay Ranges have range guns that you can tryout also. Don't be in a big rush, shopping around is part of the fun.

RE: Your choice of shotguns?
i've been looking at o/u's for about 6 months now, i have not shot any of them yet but the beretta silver pigeon (20 gauge 26 in barrel) is the gun i feel most comfortable with, also the fit and finish on the berettas is very good, better than similar models in the same price range (about $1600).
i have looked at browning, verona, franchi, charles daily, ruger, franchi had the worst fit and finish browning and ruger also seem to be well made verona is a well put together gun for a lot less money about $8-900.00 |
RE: Your choice of shotguns?
the ruger red label is also a great gun...
