New toy on order!
I just ordered a Howa 1500, chambered in 6.5x55mm. I've heard so many great things about this caliber, I just had to try it. It's going to be a long week!

what would you use that for i have never really heard much about that caliber?

RE: New toy on order!
It's a neat little cartridge and would make a nice low recoiling deer rifle. It's used in Europe on game larger than deer, but I'd choose something larger for elk or bigger.
I have several 6.5x55 rifles still in there military configuration and they are all accurate. |

Thanks for all the kind words.
CoyotePup, it will be a deer rifle for me, but as stated, they are used for much larger game elsewhere in the world. Archerman, I, too have heard of the "magic" of the 6.5. I believe that it is because of the high sectional density of the 6.5 bullet, that is so effective. I keep hearing that the 125gr Partition is the way to go, so I've got some on the way along with some Sierras and some brass. Charlie |

120, 129, 140 and 160 grain bullets are all excellent choices for deer. For elk I would choose the 140 or 160's. The swede is pretty much the 30-06 of Europe and considered to be the standard. I have three swedes, a 1916 CG, 1915 CG that is a former M96/44 and a Husqvarna commercial.
