Can any of you folks educate me on the Rem. Model 514 .22 Short/.22 Long single shot bolt action rifle? Thanks in advance.

The book that I have don't say much about it other than it was made from 1947-1971, 24in barrel and weighs 4 3/4lbs.

I can only add that there were three grades available the last was called the boys rifle. There were about 750000 made. My nieghbor had on many years ago. It was s super rabbit getter:D.

I have an old 581 Remington Bolt action 22 rifle but its a left hand bolt. Its the only one I have ever seen.

I used to have one of these fine 22 rifles. Mine was the heavy barrel model. A 514T. This was a very accurate rifle. It was just a might too heavy for squirrel hunting. If I ever get a chance, I will buy one with the lighter barrel. What else do you want to know about it.
