Have you guys heard of this and if you have then what do you think of it for a deer gun of a gun to just go and shoot. 4255 fps, WOW.

Are you serious about the deer gun thing? That's a fair amount smaller than a 223...which isn't even legal everywhere. I'd imagine they're looking at a 30-40gr bullet MAX. NOT A DEER GUN! Not even close...IMO.

I think it may be a neat varmint caliber, but I really think it's another ploy to take advantage of the gun buyers. The 17 is already popular, which is admittedly smaller than the .204, but the .223 and .22-250 are larger and surely cheaper to shoot.

I personally don't see the niche for this caliber, but I wouldn't blame somebody for buying one. I already have a .17, .223 and a .22-250...No need here.

The .204 Ruger would be a dismal deer gun. The bullets are way too small to be effective on deer unless everything was absolutely perfect, and nothing is ever perfect. For deer guns, I would start with the 25-06 and work your way up. For varmints, the .204 would be good, but I don't see many advantages to it over the .223, 22-250, .220 Swift and so on.

It wont do anything an existing caliber wont do. It would be a terrible choice for deer.

So far, the only factory load for it is a 32gr bullet and we owe way too much respect to the deer to use a marginal caliber like that. It will be a great varmint caliber, but not anymore so than the 22-250 or 220 Swift. IMO, I think Ruger is "reaching" again.

Deer Gun no way. Probably be a great varmint gun.We all owe it to the animals to make the most humane kills possible.Like already mentioned it most likely will not be a legal caliber for deer in any state..For deer I put the 243 Win as a min.caliber.Velocity doesn't make knock down power. You need some bullet weight behind the velocity to make it effective.

Way to small for a deer gun.
