whout do i need ot own a 50bmg?

RE: 50bmg
FOUR REASONS
#4-For the fun of it. #3-Because you want one. #2-Just because it's "there". #1-BECAUSE SOME FOLKS IN THE GOVERNMENT DON'T WANT YOU TO HAVE ONE!!! <img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle> |
RE: 50bmg
Because 700 grain projectiles at 2700+ fps are the perfect groundhog proposition?

RE: 50bmg
What do you need to own one or why? What you need to own one is money and the desire to shoot one of the finest, most devastating cartridges ever. Why? Because you can. I want one for a plinker.

RE: 50bmg
Because you can still buy them at our current time of federal governmental siege/control
Because you only live once Because it will only reinforce your id, ego and super ego :) |
RE: 50bmg
"at 2.50 a round i wouldn't wanna have to sight it in. or buy the gun. or buy the scope. but i'll take on as donations!"
Did ya'll read that review in either Shooting or Guns and Ammo a couple of months back? One of the low cost .50's, at a mere $2000, had .7" groups at 300 yards using a $40 Simmons 4x scope! |

RE: 50bmg
Do you guys realize the research/$$$ that needs to go into shooting a 50 at 1000 yards. I believe the drop is 28' at this range. With no laser finder...you cannot do it. If your finder is off 2', your bullet will be too.
My friend's son bought one, and I watched him shoot it. It was impressive...but NOT $5000 impressive. (Gun, scope, dies, brass, bullets, etc) That said...if somebody wants to buy one, that's their right. |
RE: 50bmg
I don't believe that hunting is the primary reason for buying a 50BMG.... in fact, I doubt that very many people at ALL hunt with it... it is primarily a long(read LOOOOONG) range target rifle. There are clubs of people that shoot 1000-1500 yard matches with them. It's sorta like benchrest gone mad.... I personally would love to have a Barrett semi-auto, but I can't justify the expense. I am toying with the idea of building a single shot... that's do-able. It's definitely not a "shoot everyday" kind of a thing for me, though... and definitely NOT a hunting weapon for me.
