I really like their 7 wsm lineup especially that Solid base Nosler...I thought 2 years ago everyone said this lineup of cartridges was going away. Hmmmmm

Cant wait to see some of the 270wsm ammo around here so I can run some through my gun. Federal is taking a big leap into the wsm loads this year.

The short mags are here to stay. We are just seeing the start of it. The newer WSSM cartridges line will expand as well. Every company is getting into the ammo and component game. The cartridges have everything going for them. Shorter handier actions and much more efficient use of the powder. Also now with better bullets that perform like bullets a couple weights heavier we wont miss the small loss of velocity with the heavier bullets. Barnes bullets are a good example. In 30 caliber even the 130 and 140 X bullets will penitrate and kill like 150 and 165 grain bullets.

I agree with you but lets watch the fur fly from the nasayers of WSM.

Well that was one of my big knocks on WSM: availibilty, choice and cost of ammo.[:@] This should help a lot to ease all three concerns.

Hey I might even start thinking about trading my 7mm rem mag for shortie or not:D!!!!

I have always felt that the WSM's were on the right track, short fat powder column and all the reasons listed in other post.
I do know of a few people that have had problems with feeding sometimes but that could be "pilot error" in the heat of the moment.
I will say IMO alot of the other trick of the week cartridges won't make it.

RE: New factory loads for WSM's.

I put one on layawy today at Scheels. Its last years super Shadow I think. It is in 270 WSM. The salesman who I know well, let me take some scopes outside and look around with them. I took a Leupold 4x12 VX-l and a 3x9 vx-ll, a Monarch 3x9 and one of the Scheels Hunter scopes. I settled on the Scheels 4.5X14x40. The Luepold had the most eye relief. The Monarch was the clearest and brightest but the Scheels scope was the best balance of features. They are life time warrany and over the counter replacement at any Scheels store Since I am surronded by Scheels stores that seemed the best choice. The guy said they have sold several hundred since they came out and they have not had to replace one yet. They are a good looking scope and I have been wanting to try this rifle and scope combo for some time. Walmart here sells the 130 grain ballistic silver tips for 23.00. Brass is now available from Win, Rem, Federal and Norma. Of course there is no shortageof bullets available. This along with the above mentioned new loads. The scope came with free steel Leupold/Redfield type rings and Luepold bases. Tolal Package price was 658 + tax.

The 270 WSM is probably the "best" out of the current crop of available WSM's that are out now. I'm extremely happy that I picked one up. Here's mine:
