i was looking at the frenchis and the traditions about a 600 dollar difference in the price but is there that much difference in the proformance.

One of the best O/U I've seen for the money is the model 500 from Ithica(SKB). Around here, a nice used one will run you $500-600. Single/selective trigger, auto ejectors, swings well and it "comes to shoulder" as well, if not better, than my Red Label.

IMO. I have shot lots of differnt shotguns of my own and my friends. The biggest difference between the more expencive ones and the cheaper ones besides the feel and name of the gun is the patterns they shoot. The more expencive guns shoot nicer patterns by far.

i have an old charles daily and i love it
it was made in the sixtys i thin, by marouku (Spelling?)
i've seen them on gunbroker for 6 or $700
would recomend it to anybody

i've been looking at the traditions at wally world, and i'm starting to REALLY want one. they are made by fausti, and they have everything that the big boys carry (i think, not too sure about ejectors) for under $500, how can that be bad?

Well, I'm not sure what you mean by "an arm and a leg" but I would shy away from the less than $1000 O/U's. The best way to get in that range would be to buy a quality used O/U, otherwise you will be better off with an auto or pump gun. Up to a certain point you are buying durability, a well made O/U will last generations, or several hundred thousand rounds ;).

I have a Traditions from WalMart. I shoot skeet every weekend, on a league. I am currently rated 6th in our club. I have nearly 9000 rounds through mine. I haven't had any problems at all. I have proven time and time again to guys at my club that it is not the price you pay for the gun or the name stamped in the side, it's the person behind the gun. If the gun fits, and that is what you can afford, then buy it and use it.
