Kimber 8400
I am looking at a Kimber 8400 Montana in 300WSM.
Does anybody have one? If so what are your thoughts on it? What about Kimber rifles in general? |
RE: Kimber 8400
Been trying to find one in my area. They are relatively new the market so it might be hard to find one.

RE: Kimber 8400
I have a master dealer in my area so I can get my hands on one in about 10 days for about $1,025. Do you think that the rifles have the same quality fit and finish as the handguns? Do you think that it is worth the money vs. other rifles?

RE: Kimber 8400
For the ones I have seen shoot, 84M, they are well made. barrel floated perfectly, pillar bedded, trigger set to a nice 3 to 4lbs, nice looking "real" walnut, great action, whats not to like.

RE: Kimber 8400
Buyer Beware...I have heard nothing but horrendous things about these rifles....yeah they look real good but remember what they say about looks

RE: Kimber 8400
Really, I will have to dig in some more about this. As always appreciated. It would a real shame to shell out 1000 dollars and get a lemon. I can't say I have shot any. Just looks very pretty, and seen one shot.

RE: Kimber 8400
BC I read a thread on them from a master dealer or should I say ex-master dealer who had a lot of problems with them...I will attempt to dig it up and provide a link. I was about to buy one at a gunshow not too long ago and when I looked at the bottom metal the fit and finish were better on a AK47...other posts have complained about the bolt being rough.... too many negatives that I have heardiv

RE: Kimber 8400
This is what I've heard. Take it as you will I haven't handled one. I have heard that they have feeding problems with the WSM family of cartridges. This was in a magazine that I read.
If you are buying the rifle because of the weight you might look at a Browning A-Bolt II composite stalker. They weigh rougly 6-1/2 lbs and are accurate rifles. I have one in 25-06 & the neighbor in 7MM WSM. The 25-06 is a 1/2" gun with Winchester 115 gr ballistic silvertips. The neighbor's will shoot slightly under an inch with the Winchester Super X 150 gr power point. |

BigCountry,
Did you ever find anything out about these guns? Everybody that I run into has nothing but good things to say about Kimber rifles. |
