Model 70 Trigger

Hey guys, I own a black shadow model 70 in 30-06 and I want to get the trigger down to around 2.5-3lbs. The trigger on the gun now isn't bad, there is no creep but it is heavy probably between 6-7lbs. I was wondering should I take it to a gunsmith or just get a Timney or another type of trigger and put that in it. I have no experience with Winchester Triggers soo any info will definitly help. Thanks!!

Kyle

your best bet would be to take it to a gunsmith. dont go lower than 3 pds thats just an accident waiting to happen

Winchester has a fine trigger, it just needs tweeking. Took mine to a gunsmith 20$ later i had a very excellent trigger that breaks around 3-3.5lbs.

Take it to a gunsmith, you'll be happy and still have the money you didn't spend on the Timney.

The M-70 trigger is totally adjustable for pounds and after travel. I've been doing my own for years and it's really easy to do...but take it to a 'smith if it makes you queasy.

Timneys are good too...but Why??? the stock trigger will work fine.

Thanks guys,
I have had no experience with a Winchester trigger and wasn't sure what the best route to go is with them. I know now that I will be paying another visit to the "smith" and having him work on it. Then I can use my money I would have spent on the Timney and put it into the new gun fund. Thanks guys.

Kyle, I've got a Black Shadow in 7MM RM. Since I had a smith lower the trigger to 3.25 lbs. my groups have shrunk from almost 2" to under an inch!
It is the best money you can spend to upgrade a rifle!

Thanks Frank,
I only got about a box of shells through it soo far, and I was shooting ok. Some of it was me but the smallest group I had was around 2'' as well. I am taking it to the gunsmith this week, and hopefully will get to shoot it next week, if it ever stops freezing raining and snowing. Thanks for your help
