Dual Dove tail or Standard setup?

Dual dove tail design would appear to be more secure than the standard setup with rear windage adjmnt. Opinions?

I've never had a problem with the weaver style bases and rings as long as they were from Millet or Leupold.

To me, the dove tail mounting system seems flimsy, but there's no basis for that opinion. Just the way it looks. But, they seem to be solid also, and the Tikka/Sako and Ruger systems are very solid.

I prefer the dovetail in the front and the windage base in the rear. Just in case the rings do not align properly the windage adjustments can come in real handy. They also help with bore sighting as long as you move them very very slightly so that you do not bend the scope.

With the dual dove tail and Weaver style there is no adjustment that can be made to align the rings other than shimming.

If you have easy windage adjustments on your scope there's no real reason to go with the standards. I prefer the dual dovetail as I feel that they're easier to install and align. My buddy has the standard setup on the exact same rifle. Neither has presented any problem. I picked up a lapping/alignment kit from MidwayUSA.com to assist in the installation. A good tool to have regardless.
