Finishing a laminated stock?

I'm considering purchasing a Tikka in a Royal Arms thumbhole laminated stock but the stock needs finish sanding and oil or finish. I have never refinished a stock. How much should this cost to have done? How difficult is it to apply a finish. Perhaps oil is the way to go? Thanks for the feedback.

RE: Finishing a laminated stock?

According to the seller the stock has already been fully inletted, glass bedded and free floated and has been smooth sanded but needs to be finish sanded and finished. Wasn't sure if the laminated wood would absorb an oil finish or should I go the a urethane?
