Shepard Scopes
 

I was just looking in Cabelas shooting catalog and saw them. Looks like the circle range finder would be easy to use,but wondering about the quality of the scope.

I have wondered about these scopes myself and it seems like like people either luv em or hate em.

If your only planning to shoot out to 500 yards Cabela's has a Alaskan Guide scope with the same type of rangefinding circles as well. I read a review on them and the author was impressed with them to say the least...They are also alot cheaper than the Shepherd as well and I don't think you would have a problem with repair work as they have the Cabela's name on them.

The Shepard scopes are great quality and they work just exactly as they are supposed to. Find the range set and thats where that bullet is going to hit. My Buddt took a Pronghorn this fall with his. The range said 428 yards. He set it and hit the animal in the neck. He then checked the distance with his lazer range finder then stepped it off as well. He is impressed with it and he is hard to impress. ME? I can't afford to even try one.:)

Would a mildot scope be cheaper? A little more hassle and learning curve though.
