Has anyone tried the .17 HMR, and how would you compare to a 22mag ?

RE: .17 HMR has anyone tried?
I have shot two, an Anchustez and a NEF/H&R. I enjoyed both very much. Very accurate guns. Quieter then the .22wmr but the wind is tougher on the little .17hmr. I want one something bad myself. :D

I have the win 94/17 and Savage bolt, both are great to shoot. A super accurate round and rifles. Fun to shoot, have only used it on the range.
Have not shot a 22mg in many years, a lot more noise and FPS in the .17, once you try one it grows on you. |

I dont think mines louder than a 22mag, if it is, cant be much. Super accurate round and lots of power for a little pill. I love this round and dont even take the 22 out anymore. Drops less than the 22 mag so if your long range hunting small varmints its a plus.

RE: .17 HMR has anyone tried?
Thanks guys. Im thinking about getting one to keep in the truck. Im seeing a lot of coyotes and want a plinker to take with me when im in the field. I use my little 30-30 now. It gets a little expensive using a 30-30 as a plinker.

Just my 2 cents: I would not use less than a 22mag on a coyote.
Ammo is half price compared to the 17HMR. I know it is fun to shoot and it has it's pluses. but around here the wind really works on a 17HMR. |
