Ruger M77 Mark II (270 wsm)
 

Im looking for a 270 wsm and was going to get the the Tikka T3 but then saw the M77 Mark II All weather in the 270 wsm and was wondering if there are any differences in performance and make. Im not a big fan of the plastic mag and plastic trigger guard that Tikka has on there rifles. Does Ruger do the same with there rifles?

No, Ruger has metal floorplates and triggerguards.

The Ruger also comes with scope rings as standard equipment.If you're going to go with a Tikka go with the Whitetail Hunter.The Ruger M-77MKII "All Weather" is a nice rifle.Except for the heavy triggers they are hard to beat for the money.I don't have one in 270 WSM but the cailbers I do have all shoot well.I would go with the Ruger over the T3.

I don't think I would ever pick a Ruger over a Tikka. I have never read or heard about a Tikka trigger guard or magazine breaking under field use. I did talk to a guy once who put a Tikka trigger guard into his freezer and after several days took it out and threw it on his kitchen floor and had it crack. He said he would never buy another Tikka because of that, but I have a hard time picturing a similar circumstace in real life. I have a Tikka and have absolutely no complaints. For what they cost, a Tikka is probably the best deal there is when you are talking about factory produced rifles.

To each his own but I just don't like the way the T3s are designed. It would be hard to get me to take much of anything over a Ruger.

why would you put the trigger gaurd in the freezer?

The trigger guard is plastic. This guys reasoning was that plastic will crack easier if it is cold. He thought that putting it in the freezer would simulate hunting conditions where he hunts, and basically test the trigger guard. It doesn't really make sense to me, but that was his reason for not liking Tikkas.
