M-14

A bunch of us were sitting around the local VFW and someone asked me what manufacturer produced the M-14 which several of the guys carried early in Viet Nam. I was stumped. Anybody know the answer?

RE: M-14

The M-14 was developed at Springfield Armory in MA before the gov't closed it down. However, a whole lot of them were manufactured by Thompson-Ramo-Woolridge Co., now known simply as TRW, Inc. There may have been other civilian contractors who built them as well, but I don't remember who these might have been. The one the Army issued me was a TRW. A great rifle! Even better than the great M1!!

RE: M-14

Harrington and Richardson made the largest number of them, the M14 was only in production for a few years.
