Franchi 48AL
Anyone have any experience with this gun? I have been thinking about getting a 20 gauge upland gun and this one has intrigued me a bit. Just wanted to know if anyone has shot this one very much and could give me an idea of how it handles in the field and if there have been any problems with it. Thanks in advance.

I have one in a 12 hunter model. It was my first shotgun back in 85 .. It has served me well from birds to deer, it is light and comes up well, I would but another ..Bill

RE: Franchi 48AL
I have an AL-48 12 gauge with 26" barrel. I only use this gun for upland huntting(mainly pheasants). I absolutely love it! It weighs about 6 1/2 pounds and because it's a long recoil operated gun, It has a real slim forearm. It feels more like an o/u than a semi-auto. It comes up fast and swings quickly. It will more than likely take a few boxes of shells to break in and function properly. These guns are a pain to unload. You can't cycle the action to remove the shells in the magazine like most other guns. That's the only thing I don't like about the 48's. A small price compared to the other great attributes.
The 20 gauge is even smaller and lighter. |

Bought my wife a 26" 20ga 48AL last Christmas ans she loves it. So far it has not had any malfunctions of any kind. I had to cut 1.5" off the butt stock and put a new recoil pad on it for her as the pull was too long for her, she tiny 5-3 & 110#. She like it much better now. She likes it most because it is light, well balanced, and points fast. Recoil is noticable to her but not punishing. All in all, it is a fine shotgun.

Great gun. Light in weight. Points well. A joy to carry.
With field loads, recoil is more noticeable than in some. I'd buy it if the price was right. Clint |
