Yes it is D&R sports .. They are a good company, I have a account there .. Price on that is POR. But I have there catolog and looked up the price .. They have very good prices on just about everything .. If you order from them you can ask for a catolog ..Bill

Otis, I have no good quality scopes at home with the 1” tube to make the comparison. The only other scope I was comparing it to at the store was the Zeiss Conquest with the 1” tube and found that the Nikon might have been a little brighter.

Looking at a scope in a catalogue and having it in your hands is two completely different things, especially when you haven’t seen one and going on what some one said. I was lucky and bought the last one at the store.

One thing I would like to mention is that the packaging on the Leupold was better. The instructions for the Leupold had a nice small booklet compared to Nikon with a large piece of paper that was folded about 10 times to fit in the box. I also like the caps on the Leupold. They had supplied the pop up type and the Nikon had 2 caps with only one elastic band. You can register the Leupold scope over the inter net as for Nikon, I haven’t found anything yet for registration....

Overall the Leupold had impressed me the most except for the one thing and that was how bright the Nikon was. I also know that some hunters have had problems with customer service with Nikon. So you have to take all that into play and good luck...

I've had great luck with the Bushnell Elite 3200's and 4200's. The only thing I now purchase Leupolds for are my harder kicking magnums. The Leupold eye relief is better than anything I've tried.

I've never owned a Nikon, but a friend of mine who does a great deal of benchrest shooting feels the Nikons are overated as to performance. He's the one that turned me onto the Elites back when they were still under the Bauch & Lomb label.

be very wary of the elite series of scopes - I had one for a couple of years and lost shots at two deer because of it. In the early morning or later evening when the sun is at the horizon and the light is really horizontal instead of mostly veritcal - (when looking into the sun) the light catches the internal prism or lens funny and you get a white wash over the scope - totally wipes out your view - just like you put a sock in the end of the scope...I have two friends that have the same models and have had the same problems - I contacted their tech support and they would not help since there was nothing materialy wrong or non-functioning with the scope - replaced mine with leupold - no problems under similar situations
