Anyone used a remington 710?

I'm thinking of getting a rifle for my son, and was wondering if anyone had used the Rem 710?

If you care at all for your son stay away from the Rem 710. The Savage and Howa rifles are almost the same price and are much better rifles. As stated before the 710 is JUNK.

Thats pretty much what I had heard, but wanted to get another opinion. THink I'll probably check out the savage. Never used one, but hear a lot of good things about it.
