I bought my 870 in the early 70's, it still my favorite shot gun and I'm hard on it, dropped it the lake while duck hunting and I never trained the lab on gun retreval, so guess who ended up fetching it in freezing water, while my lab stayed in the boat ?
Kinda curious like bowhuntercop why you want to get retir it? Bobby ;)

My father has a Wingmaster that is 30 years old and my brothers and I all shoot 870's.

My dad's gun looks like it's still new (He takes VERY good care of his gun) the inside of the barrell still looks like a mirror.

Our Rem's have NEVER let us down and have put many many deer down.

I was very fortunate this Christmas. My grandpa gave me an 870 Wingmaster he bought 30 years ago, wiped down with oil, and left in the closet until now. He hadn't even loaded it, and it is an awesome shotgun.

I'm really looking forward to using it up in Baltimore and Harford Counties, Maryland next fall. I've been shooting rifled slugs out to 75 yards with really good groups. I only have a total of about 50-60 acres of land in two spots, but there deer movement is consistent and heavy. Can't wait!

Pearl, I am just curious. Why would you post this in the guns section? What part of your post is informative? You could elaborate a bit and share with us fellow gun nuts. Maybe help another member with simular issues.
