Help - Savage problem

I just purchased a Savage Mark II 22LR rifle and am having problems with the extractor. The gun will not extract the spent shell when I cycle the bolt, and I have to use a knife to pry each spent shell out of the chamber. I've tried different brands of ammo (Federal, CCI, and some high dollar ammo, $4 per 50, of which I forgot the name).

The gun is very accurate - just need to fix above problem and tweak the trigger.

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated. Thanks.

You did not say if you bought it new or if it was used.
Try cleaning the chamber first if that don't work then.
If it is new take it back!
If you bought it used just bite the bullet cause I'll bet the chambers shot out .

On a 22LR? If it is "shot out" it would be the first one I have seen in 20 something years of tinkering with guns. The extractor claw may be worn, but that is not hard to fix.

The gun is new. I cleaned it last night and shot it again today. The cleaning helped it, but it still occasionally will not extract the shell. However, it's not near as bad as it was prior to the cleaning.

I'll clean it again and re-shoot. If the problem persists, I'll probably call Savage.

Thanks for the replies.
