The AR's produced by Bill Wilson are gauranteed 1/2 MOA, as long as you don't mind the $1400-$1500 price tag...

There are also those by Les Baer with at least an equal rep for accuracy.

Mark $1500 is normal for a AR. The Arma-lite AR-10 is $3000, but you can get one in 243 and 308. The bushmaster is $850. I would personally go with the bushmaster, just my opinion though.

Gun4hire: "Mark $1500 is normal for a AR. The Arma-lite AR-10 is $3000, "

Are you shopping in Canadian dollars or something? :-)

Every base Armalite AR-10 I've seen in these parts (Nebraska) has been in the $1600 range, (the Eagle Arms variants are available at $995) with the flat top match models around $2200-$2300.

As for AR's, a Colt match Target HBAR is $1035 at the local hardware store, with the Bushmaster variants at around $850-ish, or $950 in full camo.

I have found bushmaster and DPMS in the $750.00-900.00 range. I am fairly sure I can get something for seven or eight hundred with some effort. I really dont want to spend a fortune on the gun. It will be a general use plinker so 2 inch groups are acceptible. I probably won't even scope it.
I just want a good rifle or possibly just a good lower for now and Ill put the upper on later.I am also interested in in what other calibers are available.

I would highly recommend going with the Bushmaster. I own one of their rifles (not an AR) and love the heck out of it. Their customer service is second to none as well which to me is worth as much if not more than the rifle itself.

I've had a pre-ban AR-15 that's 100% Colt and I love it. Never had a problem with it. I'm not sure if you can still find Colts tho.

"Olympic any good?"

I had an Olympic Arms collapsible CAR15 a few years back (16") bbl that never missed a discarded bowling pin at 100 yards even using cheap ammo.

I work at a commercial range that has firearms available to the public. Down on the fireing line they have Bushmaster AR's. We have had all brands and they hold up best over the long haul.
I'm personally not a AR or just about any military type fan ,but if I was purchaseing one I'd lean toward a Match configuration in one form or another.
