stingers??
i was wondering what you guys thought of the stingers
i was wondering about them for my marlin 22 for a combo rabbit squirrel and coyote out to 75 yards(more focus one the coyote) what are your feeling on the 22 stingers would they be to much for the marlin? |
RE: stingers??
accuracy of the stingers is not what it is with standard 22 rounds. I would stick with those and avoid the high speed 22s.

RE: stingers??
I have tried the stingers and I stick with the CCI mini mag hollow points. Super accurate and they deliver a good blow. I would stay away from solid bullets if coyotes are on the list with a .22LR. They pass right through and do very little damage while passing through.

RE: stingers??
Rauch----I think I would take a bigger gun for coyote. I use 22 LR, hollow points on prairie dogs & have them crawl back into the holes after a good hit at 50 yards. Just not enough, oomph, IMO. The 22 is OK for rabbits. I would move up to a 222 or 223 for coyotes.

RE: stingers??
I love those stingers they are the most accurate hiper velocity load in my gun. they work great on woodchucks. The furthest I have taken a shot is 80 yds.(kilt him dead) Most of my shots are 50 or less. I think they are kinda light for yotes though, as would any .22 rf.

RE: stingers??
Every 22LR has it own identity. My 10/22 loves stingers. It gets <2" groups at 50 yards with stingers and the CCI classics, but it hatess green tags, Fed gold metals, and Remington Match. And nevermind the viper junk.
You just have to go out and buy a bunch and try them in your gun. One 22 nut I know with all the heavy barrels and all, was explaining that a factory chamber might not be tight enough to take advantage of the match 22LR ammo. He might be right. |
