Shotgun

I want to get back into turkey hunting. I need a new shotgun. Does anyone have any advice. I am a college student, so I don't have a lot of money, and I would like to find something for $400 and preferably under. Thanks for the help.

Forget any 3 1/2", not needed. Go with an 870 Exp. Mag. Syn. in 12 ga. You should be able to get one for under $230.00. Will kill anything you want to shoot at with it.

Remington 870 Express magnum!

This is my pet shot gun! Has done wonders with anything from ducks to turkeys! Best $220 you'll ever spend.

Hell, I've even used it as a boat paddle on a couple of occasions! Multi-purpose gun!

The 870 is a great gun but you should also look at the Browning BPS. Right now Browning has a 75 dollar rebate on all BPS 12 gauge 3.5" shotguns. This rebate comes directly from Browning so if you shop around you can get a really good deal. Personally, I like the 3.5" guns. They are not required but I can shoot 3" or 2.75" ammo if I want.

I recommend the 870 express, too. Mine has been very reliable over the years (about 13 now).

Just in case your still looking, you may want to check out this link. Once you get there have a look around. There's a few topics on that wonderful express.

If you are on a tight budget for a little over $100.00 you can buy a single shot Stoeger Hunter or a NE Firearms Pardner (I have this one) in a full choke that handles a 3" shell and kill turkeys quite successfully.

I have done this for a number of years even though I own Brownings, a Beretta, a Benelli, and a number of other manufacturer's shotguns. You don't have to worry about these guns getting down and dirty or scratched and turkey hunting is a one and done type of thing anway.

For value it is hard to beat a Mossberg 500. You can get one for around $165 or so.
