What is 6mm ppc?

Hey everyone, I was just wondering what the 6mm ppc catrage is. I have heard that it is the most accurate round. Is this true? And if so why isnt it more known about? That and who chambers there rifles in it or is it a wildcat? Any helped would be apreciated.

Thanks

ppc stands for Pindal Palm Cartridge. It was designed as the perfect? bench rest cartridge. Perfect meaning the ideal powder capacity ect.. I believe the factory match cases have small primer pockets.

The case can be made from a shortened 308 Win case (or any case with the same head demintions) useing a 6mm bullet. A 22ppc was also made.

I made hundreds of them many years ago, as at the timei was shooting competitively

The original was the 22 PPC the 6.5 PPC was just a necked up version. The original was based on the 220 Russian case. which was an off shoot of the 7.62x39. As mentioned above it was made for bench rest shooting. At one time Ruger chambered thier NO 1 rifles in both the above calibers. Most however were custom made rifles. Norma made factory ammo at one time. I don't know what the status of this caliber or ammo is now.

Ruger also chambered their varmint rifles for the cartridge.....owners were not overly impressed....it was chambered as a varmint round and not a bench rest round and there's a big difference. As a varmint/hunting cartridge the 6-PPC just isn't what's wanted....there's more than accuracy required for varminting...they also want velocity and the accuracy potential of the PPC just don't seem to come out in varmint rifles....a .243 is as well in my opinion.

Sako 75 Varmint Rifle, and Cooper Model 21 chamber 6mm PPC. Good luck.
