Thompson Center?

I am thinking about getting a thompson center in 7mm. What do you guys think of these rifles? Do you think its worth the money for what you get? Are they accurate compared to a bolt action?
thanks for any help provided

I really like mine. It' s so versitile. You can have a barrel for everything.
They are plenty accurate.
I also like the the challenge of hunting with a single shot.

I have the T/C Encore with the 7mm Rem. Mag. I also had liked the idea of hunting with a single shot. I was very impressed with the rifle at the store, but after purchasing it and looking at it closer , there are some things that could be improved on.

I had installed a scope with 50mm objective lens with high mounts and found that there was not much room between the hammer and the underside of the scope. Hunting in the cold with gloves doesn' t leave much room to pull the hammer back. I had to purchase a hammer spur to extend the hammer to the side.

I find to load the gun has a slight problem with the ejector getting in the way. If for some reason a second shot would have to be rushed the ejector could interfere. ( yes I know , rush a second shot ? )

The end of the barrel has a sharp edge compared to barrels from other manufactures which are rounded slightly.

I can’t comment on the accuracy of the rifle because I had problems. Thinking it was the barrel and then I was told it was the bullets.. It’s a long story but I’m looking forward to reloading shells to fine tune my rifle for next years hunt.

Other then that it’s a nice and short rifle that handles well. It’s about 4” shorter then my 700 Remington rifle. I like the heavy barrel and the option of changing barrels. It’s a fairly expensive rifle and don’t know if I would buy one knowing what I know now. Good luck.

i ended up getting an encore in 22-250 with a tasco world class 8x32 and have hit a moth with it on a called shot. i also got the 50, the xpt 300gr/135gr pyrodex will shoot MOAs. the only draw back i see is a stiff trigger.
