Binoculars - Swarovsky 8X30' s (absolutely precise and clear, not too large either)

Riflescope - Leupold VariXIII' s (appropriate size and power range for intended uses.).....great value for the money!

I am leaning toward a Sherpard range finder scope. This based on A good friend of mines expierence useing his new one on an antelope hunt this last fall. He was impressed with it performance. He is not easy to impress.

EASY... My Swarovski 6x24x50 PVS has just RUINED my opinion of the various Leupolds and Nikons I also own. Bino wise I been totin a fine lil pair of Steiners around for several years, but this year I am workin on Santa for a pair of 10x15x50 Leica' s.

You be a REAL good lil baby, Santa Claus is back in town!!! ;)

Earlier I mentioned the Leupold Vari X III' s as my preferred riflescopes. I believe they represent a good compromise between costs vs. performance. I have also owned Schmidt & Bender, Kahles, and Zeiss riflescopes (among the better European scopes). They are in fact very, very, good optics. But they are also very, very, expensive. (I haven' t yet tried the reduced price Zeiss' s....meant for the American market....so I won' t comment on them.) If in fact you can afford the better of the European scopes, and have no qualms with using them on " working" rifles, by all means seriously consider them. But if they are a " little rich" for your blood....the Vari X III' s are very nice scopes. (Leupold absolutely supports it' s products.)
