Scopes made in USA?

Quick question;

I am in the market for a new scope. I know what everybody is suggesting as far as brands and models are concerned. But, I do not want to buy a scope that isn' t made in America.

Which brand of scopes are made in the USA?

Leupold, Burris & Pentax. I think that is it!

Well, that makes four, more than I thought there would be. Where are the Pentax made, (which state?)

Unless I am mistaken, Pentax scopes are made/assembled by Burris.

You an buy a scope that is assembled in the USA but the lenses will come from somewhere else. Japan,Austria,Germany etc.

RE: Scopes made in USA?

Burris is the only one of those mentioned that uses american lenses so it is the only all american scope.

Where does Leupold get its lenses?

RE: Scopes made in USA?

Leupold uses asian lenses.

What, you mean that Leupold isn' t actually made in the good old U.S. of A.?[:o][:o][:o][:o] It' s only assembled here?

Is nothing sacred any more?

RE: Scopes made in USA?

Doesn' t seem to be sacred

What about Sprinfield Armoury, U.S Optics, Shepherd, and Weaver???

To be honest, the best glass is from Germany(where Zeiss and Valdada scopes get their glass).

To be honest, I think that the best lenses are made in Germany too. BUT, I don' t want Germany to profit from my hard earned money. The older I get, the more things like this are pi$$ing me off.

RE: Scopes made in USA?

So buy a conquest and get european lenses and a scope which like leupold is assembled in america.

RE: Scopes made in USA?

Hardly anything is made 100% in the USA any more. It' s either 100% imported, Imported and made with parts or materials from the USA as well as from other countries, or made here with a combination of parts from here and other countries.

Even Dodge, Chevy, and Ford are not made with all American parts.

Bigbulls,
True, very true. But, I choose to buy the Ford truck because at least the profit goes to Detroit, and NOT Tokyo.

RE: Scopes made in USA?

Since Optical glass is a commodity...leupold and others that don' t produce their own lenses buy them worldwide..... I am sure that like everything else German any glass coming from there is overpriced...to say that Asian glass is inferior is a stretch though.. One example would be Nikon Venture Binos which equal/surpass anything coming out of Germany... Zeiss Conquest glass comes from Hungary and is probably a good bit cheaper than the stuff that comes from the fatherland.

RE: Scopes made in USA?

I just wish that I could get a good, decent scope for around 150 bucks that was made in America, from American materials.

Then again, I' d also want 50 new guns, unlimited $$$$$$, world peace, my youth, etc,.............
