3x9 scope question accrurcy
 

I use a 3x9 scope. Can some-one tell me if my scope is sighted in at 2in high @100 yds on 4 power, does it still shoot 2in high @100yds if scope is turned up to 9 power. Thanks in advance 4 any replies.

Its supposed to shoot to the same poi but alot of older junk scopes didn' t which is why you still hear stuff, mostly from oldtimers about how a fixed power scope is better, more reliable. Thay maybe technically right but seems like most of the good brands worked that bug out long ago. If you have some older scope made by a company not well known for their craftsmanship I would definitely fire a few rounds to verify or stick to magnification that you sighted it in at.

I forget all of the technical stuff about why this happens but, when you sight your scope in you should sight it in on the highest power.

If you were to sight it in on the lowest power and then crank it to the highest power, if it does have any movement in the point of impact, it is magnafied this way. There will be less movement in the point of impact if it is sighted in on the highest power.

It is not suppose to move any either way but if there is any movement sighting it in this way will minimise it.
